The truth about the Swedish forest
The picture painted by the forest in Sweden is bright. But the fact is that forests full of life are becoming increasingly silent and replaced by plantings.
With promises of gold and green forests, more and more people want the forest's assets. The forest is produced as a renewable resource that can never end – it is said to be the answer to the climate challenge and will give us everything from disposable products and buildings to nature experiences and eternal access to biofuels. This equation does not go together. Everything that is said about the Swedish forests is not right and much is left unsaid. The situation is acute, but few know how bad it is. It's time to find out what it really is.
